In Ireland the Steam Museum at Straffan, Co. Kildare is 16 miles from Dublin.
The Cadia Cornish Engine House and Mine Works is in New South Wales - Australia.
As is the Sydney Powerhouse Museum - home to the worlds oldest working rotative steam engine made by Boulton and Watt in 1784 it worked for 102 years in Whitbread's brewery in London before being shipped 'down under' in the 1880's ! There are a few other exhibits here - about 350,000 in all - well worth a visit.
Aukland's excellent MOTAT (Museum of Transport and Technology) in New Zealand is built around a pair of early water pumping beam engines and has an excellent collection of exhibits and a superb reference library.
The East Anglian Traction Engine Club and the Road Roller Association websites are both well worth a look.
