The Long Shop Museum (Garretts of Leiston)

Part of the old Garrett's site at Leiston has now been re developed as a museum - the buildings being listed.

Associated with the East Anglian Museum of Rural Life at Stowmarket this new museum has already collected a considerable number of Garret artefacts for display in the (then) revolutionary machining and assembly shop which was designed and built in 1853 as a very early 'production line' facility.

There are a number of Garrett engines which either live at or frequently visit the museum, there is also a decent sized Garrett overtype semi portable engine relocated there, although not in steaming condition at the moment.
